Analog Glitches 1964 – 1973
These are damaged 16 mm video stills taken from several digitized reels of film my aunt recorded between 1964 and 1973.
Mexico
Acapulco, Mexico – Old Town Acapulco with prostitutes talking in doorways, chopped chickens hanging from wires, old men without teeth. This is far from the resort, mostly in atmosphere and smell. The market looks the same as any open air market anywhere so no photos of the generic. Only color and the vendors and a blurry sun over a blurry resort.
Fear & Trembling
It started with a radio program about apitamenophilia. Also known as wannabes derived from “want to be amputees,” these are individuals who want to have a particular limb removed, like a leg, or an arm. Most doctors will not remove a limb on a patient who voluntarily wants it removed, so these people dip their legs in liquid nitrogen, or blow their feet off with shotguns.
